1. Lies by T. M. Logan

This one was a whirlwind. Joe Lynch happens to be driving home from work with his son in the backseat when he notices his wife driving into a hotel-parking garage. He decides to follow her to see what she could be doing there when she should be at work. He notices she is caught up in a fierce argument with their family friend, Ben. He sees his wife leave and decides to stay behind and confront Ben. The argument turns into a physical altercation and Ben is knocked unconscious. Frantic, Joe leaves the scene and then suddenly starts receiving cryptic messages. What was his wife up to and why is Ben making his life a living hell? You’ll have to read to find out! This one had a crazy shocker ending that I never could have predicted. C R A Z Y.
2. A Good Marriage by Kimberly McCreight

I loved the writing style of this book SO MUCH. It interweaves different characters with court documents and covers different timelines in the story. Lizzie Kitsakis is working late at her new law firm when she gets a call from an inmate at Rikers Prison. It’s Zach Grayson who she went to law school with years ago. He is in jail for assaulting a cop- at his wife Amanda’s brutal murder scene. Zach is adamant that Lizzie represent him and she must dive deep into his marriage and their elite circle of friends in order to understand what exactly happened the night of Amanda’s murder. Lizzie uncovers tumultuous secrets, lies, and even dives deep into the troubles of her own marriage. The more she digs- the more she wonders is Zach really innocent? Read it and find out ;)
3. The Last Flight by Julie Clark

On the outside, Claire Cook has a gorgeous life. She’s married to a high power politician and she lives in a Manhattan townhouse with her own staff. However, when the doors are closed Claire is afraid of making a misstep as her husband has a futile temper and is not afraid to take out his frustration physically. What he doesn’t know is Claire has been planning to vanish from his life forever. Claire is ready to board her flight to freedom when she meets a mysterious woman named Eva who is ready to escape her own life. The two women decide to switch plane tickets and continue on taking each other’s identity. When Eva’s flight goes down with no survivors- Claire is forced to resume her identity in Oakland, California with little money and imminent danger of the media finding her. While Claire is in hiding she unlocks the secrets Eva was trying to keep locked away and uncovers what (or who) exactly she was running from.
4. The Last Time I Saw You by Liv Constantine

After reading the twisty domestic thriller, The Last Mrs. Parrish by this author I knew I was going to like this book. Kate English is reuniting with her long lost best friend in the most unfortunate circumstances- her mother’s memorial service. Her mother was brutally murdered in her own home and Blaire seems to be the only one who can pick up the pieces to Kate’s shattered heart. The night of the memorial, Kate starts receiving threatening text messages telling her she is going to be the next to die. Blaire takes matters into her own hands and begins investigating old high school friends of theirs, family members, and even Kate’s household staff only to find out the killer might actually be under her own roof. This is a juicy "who done it" and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
5. Jar of Hearts by Jennifer Hillier

So, I saved the best one for last. I physically could not put this book down. I am becoming a huge fan of Jennifer Hillier because she writes some twisty stories! I wrote about another book of hers in a previous blog post called Little Secrets. This story begins with the trial for “Geo” Georgina Shaw, who is being sentenced to five years in prison for helping cover up the murder of her best friend, Angela when they were sixteen years old. Her boyfriend at the time of the murder, Calvin, is responsible for the murder and is now being charged with two additional murders in the same town where they grew up. Fast forward five years later, Geo has served her time in prison and is now rebuilding her life in the house where she grew up. She is starting to pick up the pieces when she feels as if Calvin is planning to find her and threaten to reveal the secrets she didn’t reveal in the courtroom.
If you had to choose only ONE of these books to read I definitely recommend Jar of Hearts. I promise you will love it!
