I have been reading ever since I could remember. My mom read to me every single night growing up. I remember being gifted fifty-six Nancy Drew books when I was about seven years old. I had those bright yellow books lined up on my bookshelf in my room and I would take them out and try to read them until before I knew it I was on the last chapter of book fifty-six before fifth grade. Thus began my love for mysteries. I started with James Patterson books and read all of the titles available in my school library. I highly recommend the "Alex Cross" titles. I later got into historical books such as "The Diary of Anne Frank" (If you want a reminder of how lucky you are- I recommend reading this book.) In eighth grade english class we had to take turns reading aloud "Great Expectations" by Charles Dickens. I am now twenty-five years old and I still remember the plot to that book because of the way our english teacher made us *think* about it. -In all honesty- I had to text my best friend to ask her the title because all I could remember was the storyline! It seems that no one writes books like that anymore which lead me to make a list of classic books I'd love to read. (Don't worry-I'll post that list and I'd love suggestions!)
After high school I went to college and became a registered nurse and obtained my Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree from Old Dominion University. I truly believe nursing is my calling- advocating for people and educating them on improving their health and well-being is an honor and a privilege. However- if I could somehow turn my hobby of reading into getting paid to read and blog about books that would be a dream. For now I'll just ramble on about my most recent reads. Reading is an escape from the stresses of daily life and I hope I can provide some recommendations for great books to get your hands on! My vision for this blog is that it becomes a community where people can nerd out with their opinions, a resource for where to find books at the best price, and a channel for me to lay my thoughts out on books that change my life.
