"A Sunday Well Spent Brings a Week of Content"

Happy Sunday! Today was a gorgeous day- still chilly outside but at least the sun was shining. I spent the day with my boyfriend just relaxing and preparing for the week. We woke up, had coffee together, and then went to the gym, which we haven’t been able to do together in awhile. We came home and ate our weight in pancakes and then took a nap. (And I’m not ashamed about it.) If I didn’t achieve anything at all today I at least wanted to finally get around to writing this blog post because I have been binging Virgin River on Netflix all weekend. If you follow my Instagram stories you might remember (or if you don’t follow me that’s cool too) when I was talking about a book called “Virgin River” by Robyn Carr. It’s kind of a cheesy but a totally romantic love story about a Nurse Practitioner/Midwife named Mel Monroe who picks up her life in L.A. and moves to a small town called Virgin River. When I say small- it has less than 600 residents and only one doctor who works out of his house. Mel is grieving the tragic loss of her husband who was an emergency room physician at the hospital where she worked. She answers an ad for a nurse practitioner position in Virgin River because the town doctor is in his 70’s and needs help managing the practice. After Mel arrives in Virgin River she discovers the cabin where she was to stay is not exactly in the best shape and Doctor Mullins is not at all eager for her help. Mel is ready to pack everything up and chalk it up to a loss when she meets Jack- a ridiculously attractive retired marine who owns the only bar/restaurant in Virgin River. Will Jack be the reason she decides to give Virgin River a chance and possibly open up to love again after her husband was heartbreakingly taken from her? You’ll have to read for yourself and find out!

I found out about this book series by scrolling through shows advertised on Netflix- I looked up the book and realized there are about TWENTY books in this series. I finished the first book and immediately started watching the show. (I'm only OCD about a few things in life and reading the book before the television depiction is one of those things) I’ll have to admit I’m impressed. There are some minor differences in the book but I was definitely happy with who they chose for the characters. If you are a fan of “This is Us” you might recognize “Sophie” as Mel’s character and if you’re an avid Grey’s Anatomy fan you might recognize “Nathan Riggs” as Jack. (He’s gorgeous).

I look forward to reading more books in this series and I hope they continue with more seasons of the show. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this book or the show if you check them out! Hope y’all had a fabulous Sunday and have a great week ahead! It's now time for a bubble bath and picking up my next read - "My Lovely Wife" by Samantha Downing.
